Thank you for signing up for a Shoreline Cleanup. We have received the following information from your municipality:
The District of North Vancouver would like to thank you for the efforts you have put forth to organize your cleanup day. We have been in contact with Ocean Wise regarding the program and understand you will be collecting refuse within a District of North Vancouver Park or Trail.
Please be advised that Metro Vancouver has solid waste guidelines for recyclables and waste materials as outlined in their Disposal Ban Program. The District of North Vancouver is charged fines and tipping surcharges when banned and prohibited materials are placed in disposal bins often found in District of North Vancouver Parks.
We would like to support your efforts by helping you to direct your refuse to the appropriate depots. As you may understand from the link provided, much of the items that you are retrieving from shorelines, parks, trails and streams are not simply garbage, but items that must be disposed of through the appropriate channels and/ or recycled. Please review the link to the North Vancouver Transfer Station for station opening times and plan your trip to 30 Riverside Drive following your clean up.
Please ensure you remove all refuse collected from the park, trail, shoreline or stream where you are conducting your cleanup, and transport it to the appropriate depot for disposal. Please do not deposit collected refuse into Park garbage cans or Park recycling bins as this will result in over-filling of receptacles intended for casual users. Please do not leave collected refuse within the Park.
Please note that some areas in the District have been identified as ecologically sensitive or a concern due to invasive noxious weeds. Should you wish to speak to someone about the area you will focus your cleanup on please contact Tyler Farley, District of North Vancouver Trail and Habitat Coordinator, at 604-990-3806.
